REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA, — President Prabowo Subianto asked ministers, heads of institutions, and the ranks of the Red and White Cabinet not to hold an open house in a lavish manner during Eid al-Fitr. This appeal was delivered during the Plenary Cabinet Session at Istana Negara, Jakarta, on Friday.
President Prabowo insists that officials must set an example of simplicity to society. “I guess I should give an example, open house or something, don't be too fancy. We are already in a disaster and also in this atmosphere we give an example to the people,” Prabowo said.
However, President Prabowo has not completely banned open house events to keep the wheels of the economy spinning. He reminded that the event should be held simply so as not to close the entire event that can move the economy.
In addition, President Prabowo also reminded the public not to be swayed by negative narratives that portray the national economic condition as if it were in a bad state. According to him, various indicators show the Indonesian economy remains on a strong path.
